In 1979 The US Army issued an RFP for a new tactical vehicle to replace the M151Jeep and M561 Gama Goat. AM General responded with the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) which was built to be a "jack of all trades" vehicle. Testing took place over rocky hills in deep sand extreme desert heat deep water and in arctic snow. In 1983 the Army awarded a contract to AM General to manufacture 55000 Humvees for their use. This vehicle was purchased on a bill of sale and will be sold the same. This vehicle is located in Georgetown Texas.
